Salt Lake City To Host 2034 Winter Olympic Games
Following its hosting of the 2002 Games.
With the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris set to begin this Friday, the renowned event will dominate the sports world for the coming weeks. But even aside from the forthcoming games, the news has increased about the Olympics in total, whether it be Paris 2024 or Los Angeles 2028. In addition to Olympic news, Salt Lake City, Utah has secured the bid to host the 2034 Winter and Paralympic Games.
The Utah city last hosted the Winter Olympics in 2002. However, the Games had a stain due to a pairs figure skating competition scandal and corruption in the bidding process. But Salt Lake City has been given another chance to host the games following public support and a starting budget of $4 billion USD as many of the previous Olympic structures still stand. About the Games, the chief executive for the Salt Lake City bid, Fraser Bullock, said it’s “another chance to validate that Utah is a fantastic place to host the Games,” according to The New York Times.
The suite of winter sports includes alpine skiing, bobsleigh, curling, figure skating, freestyle skiing, ice hockey, luge, ski jumping, snowboarding, speed skating, short-track speed skating and more.
