New Balance Announces Release Date for the 990v6
The long-anticipated silhouette is touching down in the coming days.
Update: New Balance has announced an official release date for the 990v6. It’ll arrive on the New Balance webstore in both men’s and women’s sizes at 10 AM EST November 4, and is priced at $200 USD. The 990v6 is the first new model in the 990 series since 2019’s 990v5, which was preceded by the 990v4 (2016), the 990v3 (2012) 990v2 (1998) and the original 990 (1982). In celebration of the re-release, New Balance has also launched a “Runners Aren’t Normal” campaign with Action Bronson, Sydney McLaughlin, Trayvon Bromell and others. After 40 years of releases, the New Balance 990 has seen a variety of looks. Last year, we dove into the history of the classic style and its evolution from the v1 to the upcoming v6. The sneaker was first updated in 1998 and most recently upgraded to the v5 in 2019. Now, New Balance looks to finally be presenting the new v6, with the already teased “Grey” colorway on its way to shelves.
Running with the style’s success, the v6 looks to elevate the look in more ways than one with its sizable sole unit. In typical New Balance tradition, its upper matches a mesh base with premium hairy suede overlays, opting for various shades of grey throughout. Various branding elements are scattered throughout as the v6 is noted in red on the tongue. Looking closer at the sole unit, ABZORB cushioning joins FuelCell and ENCAP technology with a rubber outsole at the base.
While we await an official release announcement from New Balance, expect the New Balance 990v6 “Grey” and its accompanying colorways to launch in the coming months via New Balance and select retailers at a price of $195 USD.
