Liverpool FC References Its European Glory With New 2024/25 Home Kit
Taking inspiration from LFC’s European Cup victory in Rome in 1984.
Liverpool Football Club and Nike have just unveiled their new home jersey for the forthcoming 2024/25 season and it takes inspiration from the club’s European Cup victory in Rome in 1984.
Kicking things off, the new jersey features a slew of retro-inspired details, including a striking yellow pattern of the club’s ”You Never Walk Alone“ motto woven into the fabric of the shirt.
Meanwhile, the jersey also has a unique collar with traditional yellow and red detailing, paying homage to the iconic collar worn by the ‘84 team led by Joe Fagan, who lifted the European Cup in Rome that year wearing this original kit to complete a treble.
Rounding things off, both the shirt and shorts have yellow and white side paneling. The new kit arrives alongside a blacked-out goalkeeper kit — soon to be worn by Allison Becker — and a clean Anthem Jacket.
Commenting on the release of the new jersey, Liverpool’s men’s captain, Virgil van Dijk said: ”I’m a big fan of our new kit for next season and love the fact we’re bringing the retro vibe back. We are a club built on history and the 1984 team was one of our most successful ever. I’m sure our fans will appreciate the nod to those club legends.”
