Glenfiddich Launches Rare 39-Year-Old Whisky Cask Bottling
Including a VIP distillery experience and overnight stay at one of the William Grant & Sons houses.
Glenfiddich is auctioning a rare Glenfiddich 1985 cask bottling direct from the distillery, with 150 personalized bottles.
The cask bottling includes a VIP distillery experience and overnight stay at one of the William Grant & Sons houses on the estate, and carries an estimate of $750,000 USD – $1,200,000 USD. The lot is offered in an innovative sealed bid auction, a first for Glenfiddich and BlockBar.
The 39-year-old Glenfiddich 1985 is an exclusive expression that is uniquely available to the buyer. It was laid into a cask in January 1985 after 16 years in American oak, in December 2001. Shortly after, it was transferred into an Oloroso sherry-seasoned European oak cask, resulting in an exceptional liquid that boasts a distinctive mahogany hue and an intensely, deep, complex flavor.
With layers of fruit, the whisky is complemented by hearty oak, and brown sugar sweetness, along with a hint of subtle spice, a rich texture and finished with a mouth-coating oiliness.
The Glenfiddich 1985 cask bottling is available via a sealed auction on the official BlockBar website now, while the auction will close on July 24 at 10 a.m.
