Original Story: In debuting its latest entry in the revered 990 series — the 990v6 — New Balance has kept its flow of new colorways and collaborations steady. A frequent of the Teddy Santis-led MADE in USA line, it has also been featured in collaborations with WTAPS and Action Bronson. Now, New Balance has again tapped Carhartt WIP, offering the brand the opportunity to cover the 990v6 with its signature colors. Last year, the pairing suited up the 990v1 in a neighborhood gym-inspired look that again serves as the inspiration for this pair.
Kicking things off, the shoe begins with a tight gray mesh at its base, complementing the darker gray hits found at both the midsole’s heel and the “N” logos found on each side. From there, three shades of brown adorn the overlays, taking form on the leather and suede layers. A military green graces the tongue tag that prominently displays Carhartt WIP branding in black while the sockliner graphic similarly shouts out the collaboration with the “NB” and “C” logos combined.
At the time of writing, neither Carhartt WIP nor New Balance have provided any details about their forthcoming collaboration on the MADE in USA 990v6. However, it looks to be dropping at some point in October via New Balance and select retailers.
