AIREI FW23 Marked the Brand's Heroic Paris Fashion Week Debut
Featuring numerous sustainably-focused collaborations alongside ASICS, Matter of Trust, Dunlop, and CHURCHILL.
Los Angeles-based label AIREI recently stepped onto Parisian grounds to debut its first collection officially programmed on the Paris Fashion Week schedule. Led by LVMH Prize semi-finalist Drew Curry, the brand aims to promote the human experience through a realistic lens and highlights all who go against normality.
AIREI’s Fall/Winter 2023 delivery saw models walk down distressed settings inspired by humanitarian industries. The unfinished surroundings gave every look a distinct feeling set against rugged backgrounds that were under construction. Titled “Refuge, Deluge, Transfuge,” the co-ed collection champions the story of everyday protectors through a compassionate viewpoint that asks you to “immerse yourself in acts of service and community.”
A slouchy identity encapsulates every garment, starting the showcase with cut-and-sewn shirting paired with ultra-baggy painter pants and concrete-encrusted ASICS footwear. Sleek two-piece sets boast unfinished edges and asymmetrical finishes, while slabs of marbled flooring sit on shoulders and adorn the faces of models gliding down the runway.
Workwear-inspired garments continue, casually accented with dust and paint as if arriving straight off a building site. Padded button-ups and trousers were adorned with intersecting linear patterns that hold chaotic energy yet remain sleek and simple for casual wear in structural environments.
Protective themes are seen across the board and reflected via diverse collaborative projects encouraging civilized practices that help our planet. In partnership with Matter of Trust, human hair used to fight oil spill disasters is absorbed into rugged shirting, hoodies, and bottoms, also uniting with Dunlop to create rubber clogs and boots crafted from discarded automobile tires. Salmon leather gloves are designed in collaboration with CHURCHILL, assembled from recycled sushi waste that enhances the collection’s sustainable aura.
