adidas and Yohji Yamamoto Return With Second Y-3 Atelier Collection
The line pushes performance wear toward the avant-garde, with monochromatic GORE-TEX® vests, coats, parkas, blousons and more.
adidas and Yohji Yamamoto’s Y-3 Atelier has returned with its second collection, building on its “craft-focused offerings” with a monochromatic, code-blending GORE-TEX® range.
Billed as “the most crystalized execution of Y-3’s vision,” the Y-3 Atelier apparel and footwear lineup remasters Yamamoto’s runway pieces with fully-seamed, waterproof GORE-TEX® materials. The sophomore lineup houses a suite of tailored garments that merges performance wear with the avant-garde, including all-black vests, coats, parkas, blousons, jackets and blazers. Each of the aforementioned silhouettes is equipped with extended seams, flap pockets and reflective logos.
Pictured in a Thue Nørgaard-shot campaign, Y-3 Atelier’s latest looks prioritize “dynamism,” commanding their wearers with larger-than-life movement, angular facades and the occasional three-striped detailing.
Notably, adidas and Yamamoto launched the elevated in-line division in March of last year, celebrating a monumental 20 years of collaboration. The sub-label’s first installment featured an abundance of “Monozukuri” creations, including asymmetrical maxi dresses and essential trench coats, that nodded to adidas’ signature design language while emphasizing its collaborator’s intricate production “process” (the English translation for “Monzukuri”).
Y-3 Atelier’s second collection will launch on March 15 via select Yohji Yamamoto and Yohji Yamamoto POUR HOMME stores, as well as online. Take a closer look at the range in the gallery above.
